In 1992 Brent Pillers, a marketing representative
for Energas, bought a mobile floor covering franchise and left the
security of a good company to fulfill the dream of becoming an
entrepreneur. The adjustment was difficult, but through
perseverance the company thrived. |
| |
|
 |
Two years later in 1994, Pam Pillers, who was
working in the cotton brokerage business, bough Cecil's Drapery's,
an established drapery and upholstery business of over 40 years.
It was soon thereafter that Brent integrated the floor coverings
with the drapery business. The business made a name change
the following year to Cecil's Carpet and Interiors. With the
change in marketing strategies for floor covering retailers, Pam
and Brent bought in to a national buying group. Abbey
Carpet, the oldest franchise in the United States, became the
buying group for Cecil's Carpet and Interiors. Abbey Carpet
has over 700 franchisees in the United States and does business
with all the major carpet, wood, and ceramic manufacturers in the
U.S. and abroad. |

In 1997 Brent Pillers and Scott Campbell opened
Custom Tile and Stone of Lubbock next door to Cecil's Carpet and
Interiors. In 2002 Brent took over full ownership of Custom
Tile and Stone. It brought a fresh look to the tile industry
with a state of the art showroom. It provides the customer
with over 3000 square feet of tile installed in different venues
on the showroom floor with beautiful bathroom and kitchen
vignettes. |

|
 |
In 1999 Custom Tile and Stone diversified into the
manufactured cabinet business and opened under the name of Custom
Kitchen and Bath. The storefront was next to Custom Tile and
Stone and it offered stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinet lines.
Finally, in late 2003, in order to take full advantage of the
Abbey buying group name and to consolidate our product lines into
one company, Brent changed the name to Abbey Home Center. |
